  • US Classification:
    251 89, 251 91, 251111, 1373825
  • Abstract:
A valve for a tank containing anhydrous ammonia has a valve mechanism joined to a flow chamber from the tank. The valve mechanism has a bonnet with a hole through a sidewall of the bonnet. A stem valve portion and a stem handle portion are mounted in the bonnet. The stem valve protion is connected to the valve. The stem handle portion is connected to a handle. The handle may be raised or lowered with respect to the bonnet to selectively engage or disengage the stem handle portion from the stem valve portion. A hasp pin may be passed through the hole in the bonnet and locked in such position for preventing the handle from being lowered.

  • Filed:
    Apr 20, 1999
  • Appl. No.:
    09/295483
  • Inventors:
Spencer M. Nimberger - Houston TX
  • Assignee:

  • International Classification:
    F16K 3500
  • US Classification:
    251321, 251263, 251109
  • Abstract:
Fill valve controls the flow of propane from a fill line FL to a control valve CV mounted on a propane use tank T. The fill valve includes a valve body having a propane inlet an elongate sleeve and a discharge housing surrounding the elongate sleeve and having a thread for interconnection with a mating thread in the control valve. The sleeve may be secured to the body by a swaging operation. A nose tip is secured to the elongate sleeve and has an external surface an annular seal for sealing engagement with the control valve, and a fill valve seat defining a portion of a flow passage therethrough. Valve stem extends through the valve body and the elongate sleeve and is axially moveable between opened and closed positions. A lower end of the valve stem is positioned within the nose tip. A fill valve seal is carried on the valve stem for sealing engagement and disengagement with the fill valve seat.

  • Filed:
    May 24, 2000
  • Appl. No.:
    09/576629
  • Inventors:
Spencer M. Nimberger - Houston TX
Kevin J. Cessac - Houston TX
  • Assignee:
PCI International, Ltd. - Houston TX
  • International Classification:
    A01C 2300
  • US Classification:
    111119, 7386176, 7320419, 7386177
  • Abstract:
The present invention provides an apparatus and method for accurately controlling the amount of NH to be applied to a field by measuring the NH flow rate without condensing or cooling the NH. The system includes a control station on the vehicle with a tachometer A or a GPS system for providing a vehicle speed signal to a control panel The control panel includes a toggle switch for adjusting the opening or closing of a valve in the flow line to regulate the flow through the system, although the control panel alternatively may automatically control the valve The vehicle transports a tank containing liquid NH and a tool bar for distributing the NH to the soil. After flowing through the flow meter the NH is conducted to the soil through a series of hoses, fittings, a distributor, and tubing. The flow meter transmits a signal to the control panel, which is converted to a corrected flow rate signal in response to a fixed value vaporization correction factor. The temperature of the NH is also measured to correct for density variations.
