    Polyamides useful as hotmelt adhesives and having improved resistance to hydrocarbons such as gasoline are obtained by reacting a) an acid component containing at least one Cto Caliphatic dicarboxylic acid and b) an amine component containing at least one straight chain alkylene diamine having from 2 to 8 carbon atoms and at least one heterocyclic secondary diamine. The amine component may optionally also contain at least one branched chain alkylene diamine having from 3 to 10 carbon atoms and/or at least one Cto Cdimer amine.

Such polyamides are particularly useful for molding and bonding applications, such as, for example, in the filter industry, especially articles that are to be used in applications involving organic solvents, fuels or oils.
