Abstract:
This invention is directed to a mattress assembly for use in a sofa sleeper. The mattress assembly has an outer shell and an inner support received within the outer shell. The shell includes a lower panel, a sidewall, and a cover that fit together to form a cavity to receive the inner support. The inner support includes an air bladder and an innerspring portion. The air bladder has a valve that is adapted to allow air into and out of the bladder. The air bladder is deflated when the mattress is stored to provide a compact configuration.

Abstract:
This invention is directed to a sofa with a flip-up deck. The sofa has a sofa frame with a back, a front, and a pair of opposed arms. The deck is rotatably coupled between the pair of opposed arms at a position intermediate the front and the back. Further, the deck is adapted to move between a closed position and an open position.

Abstract:
This invention is directed to a futon sofa sleeper having a sofa frame, a folding mechanism and a mattress assembly. The a sofa frame has a back with a cavity and a pair of opposed arms. The folding mechanism folds into and out of the sofa frame and is extendable from a first position to a second position. The folding mechanism includes a frame with a rear section rotatably coupled with the sofa frame, a middle section pivotally coupled with the rear section, and a front section pivotally coupled with the middle section. The mattress assembly is supported on the folding mechanism and contains a shell and an inner support received within the shell. The inner support including an innerspring construction and an air bladder, wherein in the first position, the rear and middle sections of the folding mechanism are located within the cavity and the front section is used as a seating surface and wherein in the second position, the rear, middle, and front sections are used as a sleeping surface.
This invention is directed to a sofa sleeper mechanism having a head section, a main middle section, a secondary middle section and a foot section. The head section has a head end and an end opposing the head end. The foot section has a foot end and an end opposing the foot end. The opposing end of the head section is pivotally connected to the main middle section, which is pivotally connected to the secondary middle section, which is pivotally connected to the opposing end of the foot section. The sofa sleeper mechanism is movable from a stowed position to an extended position, wherein, in the stowed position, the uppermost edge of the head end does not extend substantially above the folded foot section.
A foldable sofa sleeper mechanism having pivotally interconnected head, body, intermediate, and foot sections movable between a folded position in which the mechanism is contained within a storage enclosure of a sofa frame, and an extended unfolded position in which the bed frame extends in a planar attitude away from the sofa frame, and tilt prevention means for preventing the head end of the unfolded sofa sleeper mechanism from tilting downwardly when an excessive weight is placed thereon, which tilt prevention means includes at least one anti-tilt link and at least one anti-tilt lever, wherein one end of the link is connected to the mechanism at one location and the other end of the link is connected to one end of the lever, with the lever being pivotally connected to the mechanism at another location. When the mechanism is unfolded the other end of the lever blocks downward rotation of the head section; as the mechanism is folded the lever is rotated so as to allow downward rotation of the head section so that the mechanism may be collapsed within the sofa frame.
A foldable sofa sleeper mechanism having pivotally interconnected head, body, intermediate and foot sections movable between a folded position in which the mechanism is contained within a storage enclosure of a sofa frame, and an extended unfolded position in which the bed frame extends in a planar attitude away from the sofa frame, and seat pitch adjustment means including an adjustable stop for varying the angle of pitch of the foot section, and thus of the seat, when the sofa sleeper mechanism is folded within the storage enclosure.
A sofa sleeper foldable sofa bed assembly having pivotally interconnected head, body, intermediate and foot frame sections each including a pair of opposed side rails. The frame sections are extendable to form a bed and foldable to form a sofa seat. The frame is supported laterally by at least one generally U-shaped cross brace which is biased in an upwardly raised position by at least one resilient member.
A foldable sofa sleeper mechanism having pivotally interconnected head, body, intermediate, and foot sections movable between a folded position in which the mechanism is contained within a storage enclosure of a sofa frame, and an extended unfolded position in which the bed frame extends in a planar attitude away from the sofa frame, and tilt prevention means for preventing the head end of the unfolded sofa sleeper mechanism from tilting downwardly when an excessive weight is placed thereon, which tilt prevention means includes at least one flexible, non-stretchable cable fixedly connected to two locations on the mechanism.
