  • Electrical Connectors With Protective Hood

    view source
  • US Patent:
    44835809, Nov 20, 1984
  • Filed:
    Sep 17, 1982
  • Appl. No.:
    6/419387
  • Inventors:
Walter J. Pelczarski - Downers Grove IL
  • Assignee:
    Allied Corporation - Southfield MI
  • International Classification:
    H01R 1356
  • US Classification:
    339103M
  • Abstract:
A protective hood for a rectangular electrical connector is described in which the hood is provided with flexible sidewalls. A locking member and cam member is provided adjacent the free edge of each sidewall near the opening to the recess in the hood into which the connector is positioned. During assembly of the hood to the connector, the cam members flex the sidewalls away from the connector to prevent the locking members from locking onto the connector. When fully assembled, the cam members release the sidewalls to allow the locking members to lock onto the connector with an audible "snap. " The hood may be unlocked and removed from the connector by manually flexing the hood sidewalls away from the connector. In one form of the invention this may be done by manually applying force to one end of the bottom of the hood.

  • Abstract:
A printing fluid input system (30) for use in a keyless lithographic printing press wherein a metering roller (20) has at least first and second ends mounted for rotation about an axis and has an oleophilic and hydrophobic surface (40) intermediate the first and second ends (32,34) which retains a natural quantity of printing fluid. A housing (42) has an open first side (46) which mates with at least a portion of the surface (40) of the metering roller (20) to define a closed chamber (44) containing the printing fluid under a predetermined pressure. End seal assemblies (48, 50) are mounted on opposed ends of the housing (42), each of the end seal assemblies (48,50) having at least a first surface (56) for mating with respective end sections (58,60) of the metering roller (20). A reverse angle doctor blade (62) on the housing (42) has an edge (66) for contacting the surface (40) of the metering roller (20) for removing excess printing fluid adhering to the surface (40) as the metering roller (20) rotates. A sealing member (68) on the housing (42), has a surface area (72) for substantially sealing the chamber (44), the surface area (72) of the sealing member (68) being substantially adjacent the surface (40) of the metering roller (20).

  • US Classification:
    339 99R
  • Abstract:
A solderless terminal for electrically and mechanically terminating an insulated wire includes a U-shaped channel including a wire retention portion comprising a wire receiving opening having a wire engaging means formed integrally therewith and means to compress the wire engaging means into engagement with a circumferential longitudinal portion of the wire whereby to maintain that engagement.
  • Mounting Mechanism For Flanged Electrical Modules And The Like

    view source
  • US Patent:
    44770472, Oct 16, 1984
  • Filed:
    Sep 22, 1982
  • Appl. No.:
    6/421639
  • Inventors:
Walter J. Pelczarski - Downers Grove IL
  • Assignee:
Allied Corporation - Morris Township, Morris County NJ
  • International Classification:
    A47F 500
  • US Classification:
    248201
  • Abstract:
An arrangement is disclosed for affixing the longitudinal end portions of the mounting flange of rectangular electrical connectors or the like to the outer surface of a support panel adjacent opposite edges of an aperture in the panel. A spring metal clip is provided having a U-shaped clasping portion for engaging the front and rear surfaces of the support panel adjacent an edge of the aperture. Spring fingers integral with the clip lie adjacent opposite side edges of the clip and are spaced apart such as to springingly engage inwardly directed recesses in the longitudinal side surfaces of the mounting flange when the flange is positioned between the fingers. There is also provided a manually operated releasable clamp member integral with that extremity of the clip most remote from the edge of the aperture when the clasping portion of the clip engages the panel. The clamp member springingly engages and releasably clamps a portion of the outer surface of the mounting flange when the flange is fully engaged by the spring fingers. The mounting flange and clip are thereby substantially restrained from moving relative to one another in all directions and also relative to the panel.
