Abstract:

A battery system monitors the status of a battery and ensures safe conditions under a range of events adversely affecting the safety of the battery cells, the battery pack or enclosure, or a vehicle housing the battery. In response to the safety event, the battery system provides one or more responses to secure the battery, disconnect the battery, extinguish a fire, or maintain a safe temperature. Upon detecting the safety event, the a controller activates the safety device accordingly to ensure safe conditions.

Abstract:

A vehicle that has a propulsion system operable for propelling the vehicle. The propulsion system includes a heat dissipating component that generates heat when the propulsion system is operated. An air cooling system is configured for flowing air across the heat dissipating component to extract heat therefrom and has an intake portion that can include a snorkel. The snorkel has an elongated channel open to the atmosphere at a snorkel intake for drawing in cooling air and is associated with the heat dissipating member to deliver cooling air thereto at a location that is preferably lower than the intake. Also, intake and exhaust plenums can be provided on upstream and downstream sides of the heat dissipating components, respectively, to control and direct the flow of air.

Abstract:

A battery cell connector for a battery module includes a set of arms linked to a base portion. An interconnect board for connecting a plurality of battery cells includes a circuit board and a plurality of the battery cell connectors. A battery module system includes a battery block that has a tray and a plurality of battery cells, and the interconnect board in mating relationships with the tray. A battery system includes first and second trays that support a first and second pluralities of battery cells, and the interconnect board having a plurality of the battery cell connectors linking the first and second pluralities of battery cells.
