Abstract:
A method and system for monitoring a mobile ad-hoc network node (e. g. a network enabled aircraft) is provided. The method includes, receiving a message notifying when the ad-hoc node is preparing to join the ad-hoc network; and determining based on a threshold value, when the ad-hoc node should be joining a monitoring system that tracks the status and availability of ad-hoc nodes. The method generates a status message if the ad-hoc node fails to join the monitoring system. The message is received by the monitoring system via and external source to the ad-hoc network. The system includes a data center that receives the message notifying when the node is preparing to join the ad-hoc network; and determines based on a threshold value, when the ad-hoc node should be joining the ad-hoc network and monitoring system.

Abstract:
Configuration of hardware and software onboard a mobile platform may be dynamically managed without significantly impacting a data stream from the mobile platform. Configuration data for equipment and resident software aboard a mobile platform is electronically reported in the form of a part number and a serial number. The configuration data is transferred to a terrestrial database via a mobile communications network. The configuration data is displayed to stakeholders, such as the network-provider enterprise and its customers. Invalid configurations may cause alerts.

Abstract:
A method and system for billing for Internet access for an ad-hoc network node, for example, an aircraft is provided. The method includes, receiving a message notifying when the ad-hoc network node starts operating; determining a route for the ad-hoc network node; and determining duration of Internet access to the ad-hoc network node during ad-hoc network node travel. The message is received by a data center via the Internet that monitors the status of the ad-hoc network node. Also, the process generates a billing statement based on duration of travel and geographical area where Internet access is provided.

Abstract:
A method and system for processing real-time data for an in transit aircraft is provided. The method includes, determining if the real-time data is current; extracting elements from the real-time data based on an entity that owns the aircraft; assigning a display code to display aircraft status; and providing a link to a display image allowing access to aircraft status using a computer network. An image code determines the type of image used to display aircraft status and a display code determines an image attribute for displaying the aircraft status. The system includes a processing module for determining if the real-time data is current; extracting elements from the real-time data based on an entity that owns the aircraft; assigning a display code to display aircraft status; and providing a link to a display image allowing access to aircraft status using a computer network.
