A thermally controlled coffee grinder and method are disclosed. In some embodiments, a thermally controlled coffee grinder may have a heating or cooling element to adjust the temperature of a component of the coffee grinder in response to a measured thermal state of a component in the grinder in order to improve dosing consistency, ground coffee quality, etc. In other embodiments, a thermally controlled coffee grinder may detect a thermal state in the coffee grinder and utilize a computer control to adjust for consistent dosing amounts.

Abstract:
A system and method for brewing coffee to produce elevated levels of niacinamide is shown. One embodiment includes providing a dark roasted coffee, brewing the coffee at pressures above atmospheric pressure in water heated above boiling temperature, and producing a brewed coffee with elevated levels of niacinamide. Another embodiment includes a system comprising a boiler with a heating element, a heat exchanger extending into the boiler, the heat exchanger having an injector with at least one lateral opening to inject water laterally into the heat exchanger, to produce pressurized water above atmospheric boiling temperature to brew ground coffee at temperatures above boiling to produce a coffee with elevated levels of niacinamide. The embodiment system may also include a thermally insulating lid.
An espresso machine cone filter is disclosed. In one embodiment, and espresso machine cone filter includes a base having a protruding rim to fit within a portafilter, the protruding rim having a hollow under section to align with the top of the portafilter, a mesh cone filter fixed to the base on a top end, with mesh cone filter having one or more layers of mesh and a robust cap on the cone filter tip to hold the mesh in place and to provide a rigid place to tap the cone filter for removal.
