Abstract:

A disk segment is used to facilitate mounting a mirror to a limited rotation motor. The disk segment has a flat edge which defines a cutaway portion such that, when the flat edge is aligned with the plane defined by the reflective surface of the mirror, the disk segment does not impede access to the reflective surface for polishing and other operations. The disk segment is attached to the mirror before the mirror is finished, thereby enabling use of attachment techniques that would be damaging to a finished mirror. The disk segment may be secured to the motor shaft by various means, including but not limited to a threaded coupling and clamp ring. The coupling may include a tapered shaft or compression fitting in order to facilitate rotational alignment of the mirror relative to the motor. Alternatively, the disk segment may be secured directly to a threaded motor shaft with the clamp ring. Shims may be inserted between the disk segment and threaded motor shaft to achieve a desired rotational alignment of the mirror with respect to the motor.

Abstract:

A stator is adjustably attached to the frame of a crossed-flexure pivot galvanometer. The stator acts on a permanent-magnetic rotor, having radially facing poles, causing the rotor to torsionally oscillate, which causes the rotor to be displaced from an axis of rotation along a line of displacement. The resonant frequency of the galvanometer is controlled by adjusting the centering of the stator along a line between the radially facing poles of the permanent-magnetic rotor. With this adjustment, as the stator is brought closer to the magnet along the line between the radially facing poles, the frequency-lowering effect is maximized. As the stator is move away from the magnet along the line of displacement, the frequency-lowering effect is minimized.

A tool for stripping insulation from a live high voltage power line comprising a pair of relatively movable jaws adapted in a support head attached to the distal end of an non-conducting shaft. The jaws each have C-shaped blades and a longitudinally directed blade for the cutting of the insulation upon the capture of a power line between the jaws.
