Abstract:
A ball nut drive assembly includes a ball nut having a bore extending axially therethrough, a ball screw extending through the bore of the ball nut and being cooperatively engaged with the ball nut, and a spring compliant member received on the ball screw and positioned adjacent the ball nut. The spring compliant member is tensioned to bias the ball nut in the axial direction along the ball screw. The ball nut is positioned within a housing, which is preferably fabricated of aluminum, and is generally rotatably supported therein by first and second sets of ball bearings. The spring compliant member is in intimate contact with a first inner surface of the housing and biases the ball nut against a second inner surface of the housing. Races encapsulating the first and second sets of bearings may be positioned adjacent the ball nut and in intimate contact with the first and second inner surfaces of the housing. The spring compliant member may be a spring wave washer, a Belleville washer, or some other type of spring compliant device.

Abstract:
Apparatus for counting containers such as empty aluminum cans comprises a loading conveyor for feeding empty containers to a counting unit having a movable conveyor underlying spaced, parallel partitions which provide a plurality of parallel pathways along which the containers are conveyed toward a discharge zone. Upstream from the discharge zone is a metering device which overlies the containers and which precludes more than one container in any row from passing the metering device at any one time. Downstream from the metering device are counters which record the number of containers discharged from the counting unit. Containers discharged from the counting unit are conveyed to an elevated level from which they are discharged to a bin for crushing and baling.
A wheeled trailer has a frame adapted to be coupled by a drawbar to a towing vehicle. The drawbar has a rear end capable of attachment at any one of a number of vertically spaced points to an anchor member and has an intermediate portion removably retained in an open bottom socket within which is a fulcrum. Vertical adjustment of the rear end of the drawbar effects vertical adjustment of its forward end in a manner to compensate for varying height trailer hitches on different vehicles and enable the trailer bed to occupy a substantially horizontal position. The trailer frame is capable of rocking movement about the axes of its wheels to a position in which the rear end of the trailer bears against the ground.
