Abstract:
A digital camera system is provided to measure a moving sportsman, for example to determine peak altitude, spin ratio and airtime. A wireless triangulation system is provided to track a moving sportsman to determine metrics such as peak altitude, rotation, drop distance and airtime. A stride-rate system is provided to determine stride-rate or assist in training for sports such as roller-blading.
The system of the invention is used in measuring sports metrics at an event or venue. The system includes ânâ sensors, âmâ repeaters, a base station and an operations terminal. One or more sensors attach to each athlete (and/or the athletes vehicle) at the event or venue to determine a sports metric, e. g. , airtime, gs, drop distance, spin, rotation. The information about the sports metric is transmitted to one or more repeaters; and that information is relayed to the base station. The operations terminal provides a user interface, and may further interface with a judging station or TV to provide the sports metric, in near real-time, to judges, viewers and others at the event or venue.

Abstract:
Methods are disclosed for determining speed or distance traveled of moving persons by utilizing sensors selectively insertable within shoes. Shoe based systems employing sensors (e. g. , accelerometers) are disclosed to determine and report (e. g. , via a watch or MP3 player) speed and/or distance traveled.

Abstract:
System determines integrity of a product through shipment and has: (a) plurality of identical smart sensors for direct attachment to different locations on the product and (b) interrogating device, the identical smart sensors monitoring like environmental condition of the product during shipment and wirelessly communicating data about the environmental condition to the interrogating device during or after shipment, the interrogating device communicating the environmental condition over a network, wherein the identical smart sensors comprise an accelerometer and the environmental condition comprises acceleration. Method establishes product integrity after shipment from first location to second location by: attaching plurality of identical smart sensors directly to product at first location; monitoring environmental condition of product via the identical smart sensors during shipment; wirelessly communicating the environmental condition from the identical smart sensors to receiver at the second location; and communicating the environmental condition from the receiver to a third location.

A shoe-based weight measuring system, comprising: a shoe; one or more weight sensitive detectors constructed and arranged with the shoe to sense weight of a person wearing the shoe and walking or standing; a processor for processing signals from the detectors to determine a weight of the person; a remote receiver; and a communications port for wirelessly communicating the weight to the remote receiver. An on demand weight system, comprising a weight detector coupled with a shoe for sensing weight of a person on the detector, a processor processing information from the detector for determining applied weight, a personal data display, and a communications port for wirelessly relaying the applied weight to the data display.

A personal items network, including several items, each item having a wireless communications port for coupling in network with every other item is provided. Each item has a processor for determining if any other item in the network is no longer linked to the item, and an indicator for informing a user that an item has left the network, wherein a user may locate lost items. A method for locating lost personal items is also provided. The method includes linking at least two personal items together on a network, and depositing one or both of time and location information in an unlost item when one of the items is lost out of network.

Abstract:
A method for monitoring fractional weight supported by one foot of a person, comprising the steps of adhering a movement monitor device underneath the foot such that the device is compressed when weight is applied to the foot; generating wireless signals representative of a target fractional weight of a total weight of the person; remotely receiving the wireless signals as information of the fractional weight. A method of monitoring weight of a person, comprising the steps of arranging one or more weight sensitive detectors underneath a foot of the person; processing signals from the detectors to determine weight; and wirelessly communicating the weight to a remote receiver.
