Abstract:

A media player coupled to a network contains a processor, non-volatile memory, volatile memory, a driver, and input and output ports. The media player receives a media file over the network that contains an encoded media stream and a universal decoder. The player's processor converts or translates (or otherwise generates) the universal decoder into a player-specific decoder which may differ from the universal decoder. A library of routines stored in the non-volatile memory is used to create the player-specific decoder. The media stream downloaded to the media player may comprise audio, video, or any other desired type of media. In this manner, each media player can generate a decoder that differs, not only from the universal decoder, but may also differ from other media players thereby alleviating the burden on the media source from having to download the encoded media with a decoder specific to the target media player.

Abstract:

A hearing assist device ( ) for a person (P). The device comprises a speaker device (SP ) for presenting sound to an ear canal of the person and circuitry for identifying a specified area relative to the person. The device further comprises a first microphone (M ) for providing a first sound signal in response to a first sound source located inside the area and in response to a second sound source located outside the area. Further, the device comprises a second microphone (M ) for providing a second sound signal in response to the first sound source and the second sound source. Abstract:

A circuit includes a programmable gain amplifier (PGA) having a PGA output. The circuit further includes a delta-sigma modulator having an input coupled to the PGA output. The circuit also includes a digital filter and a dynamic range enhancer (DRE) circuit. The digital filter is coupled to the delta-sigma modulator output. The DRE circuit is coupled to the delta-sigma modulator output and to the PGA. The DRE circuit is configured to monitor a signal level of the delta-sigma modulator output. Responsive to the signal level being less than a DRE threshold, the DRE circuit is configured to program the PGA for a gain level greater than unity gain and to cause the digital filter to implement an attenuation of a same magnitude as the gain level to be programmed into the PGA.

A method of automatically focusing a projector in a projection system is provided that includes projecting, by the projector, a binary pattern on a projection surface, capturing an image of the projected binary pattern by a camera synchronized with the projector, computing a depth map from the captured image, and adjusting focus of the projector based on the computed depth map.
