Abstract:
A transformer that prevents breakage of the wire leads thereof. The transformer comprising a generally cylindrical bobbin having a plurality of windings wrapped therearound. Each of the windings has a respective first and second end. Attached to an end of the bobbin is a bobbin endplate having a plurality of first and second end lead breakouts disposed thereon. Accordingly, respective ones of the first ends are attached to respective first end lead breakouts and respective ones of the second ends are attached to respective second end lead breakouts in order to prevent breakage of the windings.

Abstract:
A low drag ducted ram air turbine generator and cooling system is provided. The ducted ram air turbine generator and cooling system has reduced drag with respect to prior ram air turbine generator systems while extracting dynamic energy from the air stream during the complete range of intended flight operating regimes. A centerbody/valve tube having an aerodynamically shaped nose is slidably received in a fairing and primary structure to provide a variable inlet area. An internal nozzle control mechanism attached to the valve tube positions nozzle control doors to provide variable area nozzles directing air flow to the turbine stator and rotor blades to maintain optimum generator efficiency. An alternate embodiment includes an annular internal nozzle having interleaved panels to modulate the air flow to the turbine.

Abstract:
Beam control pulse modulation in an RF transmitter tube is provided by a solid state switch connected between the cathode power supply and the cathode of the transmitter tube. The beam controlling element is returned to the normal cathode power source such that closing the switch between the cathode and the cathode power source brings the beam controlling element voltage to cathode potential causing beam current to flow, while opening the switch provides a very high equivalent cathode resistance, which self-biases the tube in the cutoff region, eliminating the need for a separate "off" voltage power supply. Off-edge performance may be further improved by providing an off switch connected between the cathode and a collector tap on the cathode power supply, and closing the switch when the on switch is opened to accelerate return of the cathode potential to the cutoff voltage.

Abstract:
A fast, high voltage modulator circuit (10) has a drive circuit (12) apply input pulses to an on-section (88) and an off-section (90). The on-section (88) and off-section (90) having a common output (46). A pair of transformers (18,24) connects the drive circuit (12) to the on-section (88) and off-section (90) respectively. The drive circuit (12) applies a pulse to the first transformer (18), which transmits the pulse to a first MOSFET (32) closing the first MOSFET (32) to connect an input high voltage (40) to the output (46). The drive circuit (12) applies an off pulse to the second transformer (24), which transmits the pulse to second and third MOSFETS (62,82), closing the second MOSFET (62) and connecting a lower input voltage (68) to the output (46). Also, closing the third MOSFET (82) that shorts out a gate (34) of the first MOSFET (32), thus opening the first MOSFET (32). The entire circuit is modular, being stackable to switch higher voltages.
Power Dissipation Limiter For High Frequency Switch
The command input of a high frequency switch is gated with the output of a power dissipation limiter. The limiter includes a counter that counts pulses of the command input. Between regularly occurring reset pulses, if a pulse count is obtained that indicates a burst period above a normal threshold level, the limiter generates a fault signal that inhibits further operation of the high frequency switch until the next regularly occurring reset pulse.
Method For In-Circuit Programming Of A Field-Programmable Gate Array Configuration Memory
A programmable logic circuit includes a non-volatile, in-circuit programmable FPGA memory containing configuration data for programming an FPGA to perform one or more desired logic functions. The chips in the circuit may be packaged individually or may be mounted in die form on a multichip module. A method for programming an FPGA memory includes the steps of downloading a first set of data into an FPGA to program the FPGA to function as an FPGA memory programmer, and then downloading a second set of data into the FPGA, the second set of data being of a type for programming the FPGA to perform one or more logic functions. The second set of data, however, is not immediately loaded into the FPGA but instead is programmed into the FPGA memory in a manner controlled by the programming function of the FPGA. A method for programming an FPGA includes as a step the aforementioned method. A multichip module contains an FPGA die and FPGA memory die, either of which may be programmed in accordance with the methods described above.
