Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal Department of the Navy While serving as Kentucky's Qualification Petty Officer, he ensured the timely completion of over twenty enlisted submarine qualifications during two strategic deterrent patrols. His tireless work ethic and ability to motivate junior sailors ensured Kentucky could fly the Silver Dolphin flag for 2008. As the Auxiliary Division Leading Petty Officer, He superbly planned and prioritized his division's accomplishment of all corrective and preventative maintenance items during two arduous refit maintenance periods. His superb management was a key contributor to Kentucky being awarded the 2008 CSS-17 Engineering Red "E." Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal Department of the Navy During the most recent patrol he demonstrated leadership beyond his paygrade, acting as Leading Chief Petty Officer while completing all preparations for a Tactical Readiness Examination. As the Auxiliary Division Leading Petty Officer he superbly planned the accomplishment of all maintenance during three arduous drydocking refits. His exceptional technical knowledge of Quality Assurance was instrumental in the completion of over one hundred major hydrostatic test packages and over 50 controlled work packages for critical systems, keeping Kentucky 100 percent mission ready. Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal Department of the Navy His drive, initiative, and superb mechanical skills directly contributed to Auxiliary Division's superior performance across two strategic deterrent patrols and an arduous extended refit period. A mature and knowledgeable mechanic, He provided leadership and direction to a very junior division, ensuring complex maintenance schedules were adequately prioritized and retests were promptly completed. As Repair Parts Petty Officer, he ensured parts were always available to support preventative and corrective maintenance. Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal Department of the Navy Demonstrating a strong work ethic during an arduous Extended Refit Period (ERP), he was crucial to the completion of hundreds of man-hours of Subsafe and Level 1 testing, including recertification of the ship's Main Ballast Tank Vent Valves, Depth Control Tanks, Missile Compensation System, Trim and Drain Piping, and the Emergency Blow System. Professionally executing all responsibilities as the Auxiliary Division Training Petty Officer, he relentlessly challenged an extremely junior division with a rigorous training and qualification program throughout ERP. Jumping at the opportunity to make an additional contribution to the Navy and his shipmates, he unselfishly dedicated his limited free time as the ship's Navy and Marine Corps Relief Fund Drive Coordinator, resulting in the ship achieving 114% of its desired goal.
