  • Filed:
    May 29, 2008
  • Appl. No.:
    12/129608
  • Inventors:
Michael Konicek - Santa Clara CA, US
Adrian Land - San Carlos CA, US
Gershon Perelman - Cupertino CA, US
Lee Earley - San Jose CA, US
Mark Hardman - Santa Clara CA, US
  • Assignee:
Thermo Finnigan LLC - San Jose CA
  • International Classification:
    H01J 49/42
    H05H 9/02
  • US Classification:
    250286, 250281, 250282, 250290, 3133601, 31511161
  • Abstract:
Auxiliary electrodes for creating drag fields may be provided as arrays of finger electrodes on thin substrates such as printed circuit board material for insertion between main RF electrodes of a multipole. A progressive range of voltages can be applied along lengths of the auxiliary electrodes by implementing a voltage divider that utilizes static resisters interconnecting individual finger electrodes of the arrays. Dynamic voltage variations may be applied to individual finger electrodes or to groups of the finger electrodes.
  • Fluorescence Intensity Compensation Method And Device

    view source
  • US Patent:
    46224688, Nov 11, 1986
  • Filed:
    Jul 15, 1985
  • Appl. No.:
    6/754659
  • Inventors:
Andrew Stefanski - Menlo Park CA
Alfred H. Sturtevant - Palo Alto CA
Michael G. Konicek - Cupertino CA
Peter E. Lobban - Palo Alto CA
  • Assignee:
Sequoia-Turner Corporation - Mountain View CA
  • International Classification:
    G01N 2164
  • US Classification:
    2504581
  • Abstract:
Variations in the intensity of a light source and the sensitivity of a fluorescence detector photo-multiplier tube are simultaneously compensated by measuring the intensity (I. sub. LS1) of the light source at the sample excitation frequency with a silicon detector, measuring the intensity (I. sub. LS2) of the light source at the emission frequency with another silicon detector, measuring with the photo-multiplier detector the intensity (I. sub. S) of the sample's fluorescence and the intensity (I. sub. LS3) of the light source at the emission frequency of the sample and then calculating a value F as representative of the sample's fluorescence according to the formula: ##EQU1##.
  • Method And Apparatus For Performing Automated, Multi-Sequential Immunoassays

    view source
  • US Patent:
    48164186, Mar 28, 1989
  • Filed:
    Jul 22, 1985
  • Appl. No.:
    6/757676
  • Inventors:
Daniel R. Mack - Half Moon Bay CA
Michael G. Konicek - Cupertino CA
  • Assignee:
Sequoia-Turner Corporation - Mountain View CA
  • International Classification:
    G01N 3500
    G01N 3502
    G01N 3506
  • US Classification:
    436518
  • Abstract:
Methods and apparatus useful in automated performance of immunoassays, in some preferred embodiments, relying upon the sandwich immunoassay technique, are described. Each rack of reaction tubes is uniquely identified by an optical identifier disc which is read by the automatic controller. The assays are performed at two stations which configuration thereby permits arrays to be run on a second rack of reaction tubes while the first rack is in process. The cooperation of the identifier disc and the automatic controller minimizes operator error and helps improve the reliability of the data obtained.
  • Method And Apparatus For Monitoring Ion Lens Connections

    view source
  • US Patent:
    20140266232, Sep 18, 2014
  • Filed:
    Mar 13, 2013
  • Appl. No.:
    13/801771
  • Inventors:
David E. MINKLER - Campbell CA, US
Michael G. KONICEK - Santa Clara CA, US
  • International Classification:
    G01R 31/11
  • US Classification:
    324509
  • Abstract:
This technology is directed to a method and apparatus for monitoring or testing defects associated with an ion lens connected within a mass spectrometer. In some implementations, the testing mechanism monitors a connection of one or more ion lenses configured in the mass spectrometer to determine if voltage is effectively applied to the ion lens. The testing circuit of the present technology includes at least one Zener diode added to the voltage divider and monitoring a change in slope of the applied voltage versus the voltage at the read-back circuit. The change in slope may be easily measured.
