Sony's Asking You to Waive Your Rights, But You Have Options
Within days after admitting PSN had been compromised, the company had been sued, that time by 36-year-old Kristopher Johns of Birmingham, Ala, in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California.
Last month, U.S. lawyers filed a lawsuit against Sony on behalf of lead plaintiff Kristopher Johns for negligent protection of personal data and failure to inform players in a timely fashion that their credit card information may have been stolen. The lawsuit seeks class-action status.

Sony is expected to face a barrage of lawsuits over the breach. The first, filed by 36-year-old Kristopher Johns, of Birmingham, Alabama, accuses it of not taking reasonable care to protect, encrypt, and secure the private and sensitive data of its users.
In one lawsuit, filed in the U.S. District Court's Northern District of California, videogame player Kristopher Johns said Sony's security was negligently poor and the company failed to encrypt personal information.
The suit was filed today on behalf of Kristopher Johns, 36, of Birmingham, Ala., in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California. Johns accuses Sony of not taking "reasonable care to protect, encrypt, and secure the private and sensitive data of its users."
