A method of supporting a switch from a limited operations low power operating mode of a mobile station ( ) to a normal operating mode of the mobile station ( ) in a wireless network ( ). The method comprising the step of causing the mobile station ( ) to inform the network ( ) that it is entering into a low power operating mode. The method further comprises. the steps of causing the mobile station ( ) to enter the low power operating mode, and causing the network ( ) to acknowledge that the mobile station ( ) is in the low power operating mode. Calls is made to a number associated with the low power operating mode are terminated by causing the mobile station ( ) to switch to the normal operating mode.
System And Method For Accessing The Internet In An Internet Protocol-Based Cellular Network
A telecommunications system and method is disclosed for transmitting and receiving short messages between a Mobile Station (MS) within an Internet Protocol (IP) based cellular network and a web site on the Internet. Each web site that the MS has access to contains an Application Program (AP). To retrieve the information, the MS within an IP-based cellular network originates a short message towards the AP associated with the web site using a pre-assigned E. 164 number for the AP. When the short message reaches a Mobile Switching Center (MSC), an Application Manager (AM) within the MSC intercepts the short message and translates the E. 164 number into an IP-address and port number for the AP. The AM extracts the data from the short-message, packs the data in an SMTP envelope and transmits it to the AP.
Local Subscriber Number And Services For Non-Local Wireless Subscribers
A system and method for providing local service to non-local subscribers in a telecommunications network. The systems and methods employ mapping of a subscriber IMSI with a unique local identifier for use by the local system for locally originating and terminating calls.
System And Method For Providing Location-Specific Services To Mobile Users Using An Ip Network
A telecommunications system () supporting load sharing between a Public Land Mobile Network () and an Internet Protocol network () within a shared service area () includes an air interface to the IP network () for providing IP network service to mobile terminals (). Location-specific services to PLMN mobile terminals in the service area supported by the IP network are enabled.

Abstract:
A terminal agent () for interfacing a wireless terminal () with an IP network (). The terminal agent () includes a Radio Base Station () for providing radio service to the wireless terminal () and a Radio Network Server () for control and signal processing. A Network Access Controller () provides for registration functions conversion of signals between wireless protocol and IP protocol for facilitating transmission of the signals in both the wireless and IP environments. In this way, the terminal agent () is able to provide service to the wireless terminal () as if it were a terminal of the IP network ().

Abstract:
The present invention can provide multimedia services by hosting within an Internet Protocol Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) compliant environment of a network operator at least one multimedia service, which is associated with a managed service provider. Instance-specific execution metrics can be determined for instances of the multimedia service. The execution metrics can include resource usage metrics for resources of the IMS compliant environment that are consumed during each of the instances. Revenue generated by the multimedia service instances can be shared between the network operator and the managed service provider based upon the execution metrics in accordance with any revenue sharing agreement established between the network operator and the managed service provider.
Wireless Intelligent Vehicle Speed Control Or Monitoring System And Method
A system (12) and method for automatically monitoring and/or controlling the actual speed of a vehicle (10) relative to the legal speed limit of the geographic area the vehicle is located in. A wireless transmission (32) containing location or legal speed limit information is received from a transmission source (24). If location information is obtained, database (40) is queried to obtain legal speed limit information for the physical location of the vehicle. The legal speed limit is stored into a memory space (36). Alternatively, the legal speed limit is used to control the actual speed of the vehicle. In a monitor mode, the system (12) compares the actual speed of the vehicle to the legal speed limit with a processor (37), and the relative information may be communicated to the driver. In an offset mode, the system (12) controls the actual speed of the vehicle to an offset amount relative to the legal speed limit, where the offset amount is set by the driver of the vehicle. The transmission source (24) may be a GPS-compatible satellite network (30) or a transmitter (28) on a traffic sign (26).
