Abstract:This document provides methods and materials related to assessing a mammal's immunological state. For example, methods and materials related to assessing a mammal to determine whether the mammal is immunologically naïve with respect to a pathogen, was vaccinated against that pathogen, or is infected with that pathogen are provided. This document also provides methods and materials that can be used to determine whether or not a mammal (e.g., a cow) has an early stage infection (e.g., stage 1, Johne's disease).
