Abstract:
An air fuel delivery system arrangement for an engine is provided, including an air manifold body, having a first set of runners for a first cylinder bank with inlets on a first side and outlets on a second side of the manifold body and a second set of runners for a second cylinder bank with inlets on a second side and outlets on a first side. And a first fuel rail is included, having outlets for connection with fuel injectors for delivering fuel to the first cylinder bank being positioned generally between the inlets of the manifold body. A second fuel rail is also included, having outlets for connection with fuel injectors for delivering fuel to the second cylinder bank being positioned generally between the inlets of the manifold body being generally vertically aligned with the first fuel rail.

A fuel rail is provided which includes a housing formed by a first member with a first thickness. A bracket is provided, connected to the first member to connect the fuel rail to an internal combustion engine. A second stamped member is provided and is sealably connected to the first member to form a control volume therewith. The second member has a second thickness that is materially lower than the first thickness. Accordingly, the second member has a wall to damp pulsations caused by the opening and closing of the injectors fluidly connected with the rail.

An apparatus for coupling components in a fuel delivery system together is presented. The apparatus comprises a first member having a first end, a second end, and throughgoing passageway therebetween. The apparatus further comprises a second member having a throughgoing bore therein. The throughgoing bore is configured to receive the first end of the first member. The first and second members of the apparatus are configured to be affixed together to create a joint between the first end of the first member and the inner wall of the bore of the second member such that the passageway and the bore are in substantial alignment with each other.

Abstract:
A fuel delivery system comprises a source, a fuel rail, and a damper coupled therebetween. The damper comprises a body having first and second sides, and a sidewall extending therebetween. The first and second sides and sidewall combine to define a cavity. The damper further includes first and second ports disposed in the sidewall of the body. A first portion of the first port is disposed outside of the cavity, and a second portion is disposed within the cavity. The second portion further includes an orifice therein to allow fluid to be communicated between the first port and the cavity. A first portion of the second port is disposed outside of the cavity of the body, and a second portion is disposed proximate the cavity. A portion of the first and/or second sides of the body has a diaphragm shape, thereby rendering the portion flexible.
