  • Trigger Tension Adjuster

    view source
  • US Patent:
    50521411, Oct 1, 1991
  • Filed:
    Aug 10, 1990
  • Appl. No.:
    7/566049
  • Inventors:
Hal C. Sammons - Tahlequah OK
  • International Classification:
    F41A 1917
  • US Classification:
    42 6901
  • Abstract:
A trigger tension adjuster for use with a factory made trigger assembly which includes a trigger housing on which a trigger is pivotally mounted with a shoulder on the trigger accessible within the housing. The adjuster to be added to the trigger assembly includes a mounting block which has a front portion contoured to abut the rear and interior surfaces of the housing sidewalls and a rear shelf-like portion which will extend in spaced relationship above the trigger shoulder. The mounting block is secured to the housing and a spring biased plunger is threaded through the shelf-like portion so that the plunger is in engagement with the shoulder of the trigger. Thus, the weight of the trigger pull is controlled solely by the compression of the spring biasing the plunger against the trigger shoulder. When the depth of the plunger assembly is properly set, a set screw through the mounting block permits the user to secure the plunger at the appropriate depth. Thus, in the field, to adjust the trigger pull, the user need only loosen the set screw, rotate the plunger assemlby in its threads until the desired tension is attained and retighten the set screw.
  • Longitudinally Finished Shotgun Barrel And Method Therefor

    view source
  • US Patent:
    62102532, Apr 3, 2001
  • Filed:
    Apr 8, 1999
  • Appl. No.:
    9/288171
  • Inventors:
Hal C. Sammons - Tahlequah OK
  • International Classification:
    B24B 100
  • US Classification:
    451 36
  • Abstract:
A method for refinishing the bore of a shotgun barrel achieves high finish surface grades by pumping a relatively soft abrasive media longitudinally through the bore. The resulting bore striations are oriented in a longitudinal direction along the barrel, significantly reducing the felt recoil and increasing the muzzle velocity of the weapon. The gunsmith swabs the bore to remove dust. The bore is inspected to detect obstructions and blemishes and then secured to a support structure in a horizontal orientation. The grade of the surface finish of the bore is determined. A polishing media pumping system is connected to the receiver end of the barrel and all holes through the barrel wall are blocked. A silicone matrix media impregnated with silicon carbide is pumped from the receiver end of the barrel through the bore and out the muzzle end of the barrel to polish the bore until the bore striations are generally longitudinal. The barrel is disconnected from the pumping system and the support structure and excess media cleaned out of the bore.
