  • Porous Plastic Film Product, Useful As A Breathable Wall Covering Or Filters

    view source
  • US Patent:
    52624447, Nov 16, 1993
  • Filed:
    Nov 30, 1992
  • Appl. No.:
    7/985376
  • Inventors:
    George Rusincovitch - Worthington OH
Paul J. Roe - Columbus OH
Richard C. Andrews - Gahanna OH
  • Assignee:
    Borden, Inc. - Columbus OH
  • International Classification:
    C08G 1814
  • US Classification:
    521 505
  • Abstract:
The invention relates to a breathable, plastic film, useful as a wall covering material. A low boiling additive, such as water, is added to a plastisol before extrusion. During extrusion and curing of the plastisol into a film or coating, the low boiling additive is volatilized and the resulting evolved gas perforates the forming film. In this manner a permeable plastic film, such as vinyl, is produced.
  • Repositionable Wall Covering

  • US Patent:
    54879299, Jan 30, 1996
  • Filed:
    Jul 29, 1994
  • Appl. No.:
    8/282792
  • Inventors:
    George Rusincovitch - Worthington OH
Paul J. Roe - Columbus OH
  • Assignee:
    Borden, Inc. - Columbus OH
  • International Classification:
    B32B 900
  • US Classification:
    428 40
  • Abstract:
A sheet material having a decorative surface and a working surface, for application to a support surface is disclosed. A substantial area of the working surface is provided with a tacky, discontinuous layer of pressure sensitive adhesive. A pattern of non-adhesive projections which have a height equal to or greater than the thickness of the adhesive are provided within the discontinuities on the working surface.

    view source
  • US Patent:
    56767870, Oct 14, 1997
  • Filed:
    Jun 7, 1995
  • Appl. No.:
    8/472847
  • Inventors:
    George Rusincovitch - Worthington OH
Lawrence Daniel Carstensen - Circleville OH
  • Assignee:
Borden Decorative Products, Inc. - Columbus OH
  • International Classification:
    B32B 3108
    B32B 704
  • US Classification:
    156277
  • Abstract:
Methods for making a sheet material, such as wall covering, having a decorative (front) surface and a working (back) surface, for application to a support surface are disclosed. One method includes applying a release layer over the decorative surface and printing a pattern over the release layer to cover portions of the release layer. A pressure sensitive adhesive layer is applied to the working surface. Upon rolling the sheet material into a roll, the pattern adheres to the pressure sensitive adhesive layer so that, upon unrolling, the release layer transfers to the pressure sensitive adhesive layer. Another method is disclosed which sequentially combines ink, adhesive and a decorative sheet with a release sheet. Intermediate products, namely the sheet material prior to rolling are also disclosed.
