Abstract:
A system and method provides a distributed welding architecture in accordance with the present invention. The system includes a welder operatively coupled to a server and a network interface to enable a network architecture, the network architecture serving a network that communicates with at least one remote system. The remote system includes at least one remote interface to communicate with the network architecture, wherein the remote system accesses at least one HTTP socket to establish web communications with the welder and loads at least one application from the welder. The remote system accesses at least one Welding Application socket via the at least one application to exchange information between the welder and the remote system, wherein the at least one application includes at least one of a weld configuration component, a weld monitoring component, and a weld control component to interact with the distributed welding system.

Abstract:
A system for enabling an electric arc welder adapted to perform various welding processes using weld parameters and a welding wire. The system comprises a first receptacle for a first memory button having a chip loaded with digital data indicative of a specific welding procedure specification constituting a set of at least weld parameters, a specific weld process, electrical characteristics, and selected welding wire features; a second receptacle for a second memory button having a chip loaded with digital data indicative of recorded features of welding wire loaded onto the welder; and, a disable circuit to disable the welder to process the specific welding procedure when the data indicative of recorded features of the welding wire fails to correspond with the data indicative of the selected welding wire features.

Abstract:
A system and method for facilitating welding system diagnostics is provided. The invention includes a welder, a local system, a remote system, and/or an alarm component. The invention further provides for receiving sensor input(s), performing test sequence(s) based, at least in part, upon the sensor input(s) and/or performing internal diagnostics. The invention further provides for determining a health status of the welder and communicating the health status of the welder to the local system, the remote system and/or the alarm component. The health status of the welder can include welder alarm(s) and/or fault(s). Information regarding the health status of the welder can be sent by telephone, voicemail, e-mail and/or beeper. The welder can communicate with the local system and/or remote system to schedule maintenance. The invention further provides for a expert component to facilitate welding diagnostics based, at least in part, upon the health status of the welder, welder data, an expert data store, a local service support data store, a remote expert data store and/or a remote service support data store.

Abstract:
A tandem welding system includes a plurality of spaced apart electrodes () arranged to travel at a common travel speed. The plurality of spaced apart electrodes () cooperatively perform a weld. A data storage medium () stores measured data for each electrode during the performing of the weld. A processor () performs a process comprising: for each electrode, recalling measured data corresponding to the electrode passing a reference position; and, combining the recalled measured data of the plurality of spaced apart electrodes () to compute a weld parameter of the tandem welding system at the reference position.

Abstract:
The present invention relates to a system and method that provide for automated notification to entities (e. g. , individuals, groups of individuals, computers, systems. . . ) of welding system related information. The invention provides for determination of events and/or conditions that warrant automatic notification thereof to relevant entities. The notifications are conveyed via a most appropriate subset of available communication modes available. The system identifies most appropriate entities to receive the notification about the event, and optionally determines or infers state of the entities and conveys the notification via a communication mode (e. g. , text, audio, graphical, video, combination thereof. . . ) and modality (e. g. , wireless, Ethernet, cable, optical, telephone, e-mail, voicemail, pager, ghosting, instant messaging. . .
