A guide for centering transit ammunition rounds generally includes a plate having an ammunition round passage port therethrough along with a plurality of spaced apart ammunition round contact members disposed around a circumference of the passage port. A plurality of moveable arms is provided with each arm supporting a respective member and enabling radial movement of the respective member to and from a passage port center. Each arm engages an adjacent arm preventing non-equidistance spacing of the member from the passage port center and a plurality of biasing elements may be provided and disposed in positions urging a respective arm and member toward the passage port center.
A self-timing ammunition interface system is provided which includes an exit unit for accepting and delivering ammunition rounds and a linker/delinker for inserting ammunition rounds into the exit unit and receiving downloaded ammunition rounds from the exit unit. Lobed rotors are provided for automatically aligning the engagement of an exit unit interfere gear and a loader interface drive gear disposed in the linker/delinker.

Abstract:
Ammunition transfer apparatus for movement of ammunition rounds from a magazine to a gun spaced apart therefrom is provided. The apparatus includes a transfer unit for withdrawing ammunition rounds from the magazine and inserting withdrawn ammunition rounds into the gun and a reciprocating drive, disposed between the magazine and the gun, for alternatively moving the transfer unit into a first position for withdrawing ammunition rounds and a second position for inserting ammunition rounds. In addition a carrier is attached to the reciprocating drive, for causing up to approximately a 180. degree. rotation of the transfer unit between the first and second positions.
A conveyor mechanism for use with ammunition rounds includes a plurality of clamshells pivotally interconnected to each other, with each clamshell including a first body and a second body pivotally connected to the first body. Each clamshell is selectively transitional between an ammunition holding configuration and an ammunition release position, with the second body pivoting relative to the first body to facilitate transition between the ammunition holding configuration and the ammunition release configuration. The first and second bodies are configured to cooperatively engage one of the ammunition rounds when the clamshell is in the ammunition holding configuration.
