Abstract:

A programmable controller is provided that is capable of interfacing with a remote master controller, where the programmable controller is capable of controlling an input current to at least one load that is proximate the programmable controller. The programmable controller includes at least one solid-state switch capable of controllably altering the input current to the loads. The programmable controller also includes at least one measuring element for measuring at least one parameter associated with the loads and the solid-state switches, such as the current through the solid-state switches, the current through and voltage drop across the loads and/or the temperature at or around the solid-state switches. Additionally, the programmable controller includes a processing element capable of controlling the solid-state switches, such as by controlling the current through the solid-state switches to the loads.

A system is provided for remotely detecting and locating damaged conductors. The system includes at least one slave controller disposed proximate at least one load and electrically connected to the loads via at least one conductor. The slave controller includes at least one solid-state switch capable of controllably altering the input current to the loads, and at least one measuring element for measuring at least one parameter associated with the loads and the solid-state switches. In this regard, the solid-state switches controllably alter the input current to the loads according to the parameters. The system also includes at least one arc fault detector electrically connected to the conductors between the slave controller and the loads, where the fault detector is capable of detecting an electric arc event.

Abstract:

A system and method are provided for remotely detecting and locating faults in a power system. The system includes at least one slave controller and at least one supplemental protection module. The slave controller is disposed proximate at least one load and electrically connected to the loads via at least one conductor. More particularly, the slave controller includes at least one solid-state switch capable of controllably altering the input current to the loads. The slave controller also includes at least one measuring element for measuring at least one parameter associated with the loads and the solid-state switches. Abstract:

An improved modular solid power controller includes low cost low speed microcomputers embedded within the load cards to control a number of semiconductor power switches associated with corresponding electrical load circuits. A master controller microcomputer on the controller card communicates bilaterally with each of such slave microcomputers via a serial data path that extends along the backplane card and interconnects the former computer with each of the load cards, issuing commands in serial form and in high level language that is received by the addressed slave microprocessor, interpreted and acted upon by controlling the semiconductor power switches associated with the respective slave card.

Abstract:

A bird shaped toy glider which is preferably comprised of Styrofoam and includes a body. The body has a laminated head structure. A metal weight is embedded in the head between the laminations of the head structure for balancing the glider. A collapsible wing structure is provided and it includes a pair of wings mounted on the body behind the head. The body having its center of gravity at a medial point between opposite ends of the body. A tail structure is mounted on the rear end of the body. A stationary pivot pin is fixedly secured with and extends through the body behind the wings. Resilient spring-like means in the form of a rubber band operates to secure the collapsible wing structure on the body permitting the collapsible wings to be pivoted about the stationary pivot pin in a 90. degree. forward direction from a "free flight position" and further permits the wings to be folded back into flat abutment against opposite sides of the body in a direction rearward of the center of gravity of the toy glider into a "glider launch position". The rubber band serves a means to further co-act with the wings to move the wings from their "glider launch position" into the "free flight position" when air pressure from launching has diminished sufficiently so that the resilient spring-like means can then move the wings back into the "free flight position".
