Abstract:

An apparatus and method for cooking and straining food items is described herein. The cooking apparatus has a vessel with an annular rim and an insert supported in rotational engagement with the vessel and having an annular rim portion engaging the vessel rim, where the insert rim is configured to rotationally engage the vessel rim such that when the insert is engaged with the vessel, the insert remains engaged with the vessel as the insert is rotated relative to the vessel. The vessel and insert rims of the cooking apparatus may further include hooks and cutouts for securing the insert onto the vessel. The method described herein includes positioning the hooks in the cutouts, rotating the insert so as to lock it onto the pot, cooking and straining food items, and realigning the hooks and cutouts to remove the insert from the pot.

Abstract:

A knife block to store and protect sharpened kitchen knives is suggested. The knife block includes a base and a pivotable tray connected together by a adjustable coupling system. The base includes a plurality of apertures therein that are to receive the blades of sharpened kitchen knives. The pivotable tray is configurable to change the geometry and functionality of the knife block from a folded configuration to a straight configuration. In the folded configuration, the knife block is easily deployed upon a counter top in an upright position. In the straight configuration, the knife block can be deployed upon a horizontal or vertical surface, for example upon a wall or within a drawer.

Abstract:

A cooking apparatus can include a vessel having a cooking surface and an exterior surface, a handle having a grip and a fastener pad, the fastener pad having an opening, and a fastener, wherein the fastener can be coupled to the exterior surface of the vessel, the fastener can be disposed at least partially through the opening, and the handle can be coupled to the vessel. The handle can be coupled to the vessel and any disturbance to the cooking surface can be at least minimized. A method of making a cooking apparatus can include coupling a handle to an exterior surface of a vessel while at least minimizing any effects on the cooking surface.
