Abstract:
A collaboration system and method are provided. In the collaboration system, a collaborative web service is provided that mimics the simplicity of email and the collaboration system can be integrated into other databases.
Standard web content search result relevance and ranking is improved by considering certain social reference data, such as the number of times an item of content is shared, normalized for the number of times it is viewed. A system and method for improving the relevance and ranking includes a system and method for tracking the social references and a system and method for operating on search engine results to either re-order the results based on social reference data, re-order the search results based on a combination of the social reference data and the web search engine's ordering, and/or display the social reference data either with the search results reordered or in the order provided by the web search engine. Many different forms of data constitute social reference, including sharing content or a link thereto by email, SMS, posting to a link-sharing site, blog, and bookmarking in a web browser.

Abstract:
A method for interacting with an underlying program using e-mail includes receiving an APPMAIL request from a user (or automated process) of an underlying program. The APPMAIL request defines a task requiring input from one or more recipients. An APPMAIL is generated based upon the request. The APPMAIL includes a body providing information concerning the task and at least one structured input portion. The structured input portion includes at least one structured input field for receiving pre-defined structured input from the recipient(s). The APPMAIL can also include an unstructured input portion for receiving unstructured input data from the recipient(s). The APPMAIL is sent to the recipient(s) via e-mail and completed APPMAILs are received from the recipient(s) via http(s) post or e-mail. Each completed APPMAIL comprises structured input data entered by the recipient in the at least one structured input field. The structured input data is extracted from the structured input field. The extracted structured input data are stored for use by the underlying program. Any unstructured input data are extracted and stored.
E-Mail Based Decision Process In A Hierarchical Organization
A process includes sending a request appmail to a requesting user by e-mail. The request appmail includes data input fields where the requesting user enters a request to be reviewed by a supervisor. A completed request appmail is received from the requesting user via e-mail. The request input data are extracted from the completed request appmail and are saved. An approval appmail is generated based upon and including the extracted request input data. The approval appmail is sent to the supervisor via e-mail. A completed approval appmail is received from the supervisor via e-mail. The approval input data are extracted from the completed approval appmail. Either an acceptance e-mail or a rejection e-mail is generated and sent to the requesting user depending upon the extracted approval input data. The method is also used to implement a survey or questionnaire and/or for task management.
A task management method includes receiving appmail definition data relating to a task from a task manager. The appmail definition data include question data defining a question relating to a task and structured response data defining a plurality of different structured responses to the question. A task appmail is generated based upon the appmail definition data received from the task manager. The task appmail defines a questionnaire including the question and the plurality of different structured responses. The task appmail comprises a data file that defines the questions and the plurality of structured responses to the question, and wherein the data file further defines a plurality of different user-selectable fields associated respectively with the plurality of structured responses when said task appmail is displayed to a user on a computer screen. The task appmail is sent to a task member by e-mail. A completed task appmail is received from the task member. The completed task appmail includes response data that represent the one of the different structured responses to the question selected by the task member using one of the plurality of different user-selectable fields. The response data are saved in a database and are used to generate a task report for the task manager.

Abstract:
Techniques for providing sentiment-related content using sentiment and factor-based analysis of contextually-relevant user-generated data is described, including performing an analysis of a user-generated content to identify a factor associated with the user-generated content, generating a term using a keyword and the factor, and generating a pointer associated with the term and a web page associated with the pointer, the web page including other user-generated content associated with the term. In some examples, a request entered in a field is received and used to generate a web page including user-generated content in response to the request using a sentiment analysis of the user-generated content.
