A chain saw work holder designed to horizontally support an entire chain saw, and a portable adapter designed to support said work holder securely and removably while balancing a pivotal rocking tool on a vertical plane in close proximity thereto. Said work holder is composed of a base on which is secured an elongated beam supporting a pivotal deck equipped with two risers. Each riser is supplied with pins to receive rotatable races for securing, movably taught, a chain saw of any size or length. A unique channel morticed into the center of the back riser at an eccentric angle, and releasably lockable to said deck, enables said back riser to adjust to any length of saw chain. A hinged block on each side of said base allows the deck to tilt to right or left and combines with the lateral mobility of the work holder on the adapter to orient a cutting link of a chain saw elevationally, angularly, and laterally, to the vertically disposed cutting element of a pivotal rocking tool. An index on each side of the front riser selects and holds each cutting link until sharpened, dropping away and selecting again as the chain is rotated.
A sharpening apparatus for circular saw blades including a bench holding a saw clamping arbor mounted on a saw holding table, and a rocker arm carrying a cutting disc. The rocker arm is freely balanced and the saw arbor is freely rotatable so that the cutting disc can be easily tilted to the saw and the blade can be easily indexed to the next cutting tooth.
A setting apparatus for circular saws is described in which an elongated channel iron base is employed to carry both the setting device and the cooperating means. The channel iron base is of sufficient length to accomodate an open-end slidable box, said box supporting a fixed saw holding arbor; said slidable box being movable on said elongated channel iron base, and also longitudinally adjustable to position the peripheral edge of a circle saw of any size in proper relation to the edge of the anvil. The anvil is located at the right end of channel iron base and said slidable box being releasably lockable to the channel iron base at any point desired. The right end of the elongated channel iron base is provided with two angle iron plates, welded or bolted in place, and positioned with sufficient width to accept a stress-proof metal bar arm equipped with a one-fourth inch tool bit as the striking element. The metal bar arm and the metal angle plates are bored to receive a bolt pivotally supporting said bar arm. The extreme right end of elongated channel iron base has an elongated slot in which an eccentric throw is supported.
A device for holding a hand saw firmly in place on a traversing table, and employing in combination, a lead screw, a tracing dog, index plate, and index stop, all of which cooperate to evenly divide and space the teeth per inch of hand saw, while presenting each tooth to be sharpened or set.
