Abstract:

The invention is directed towards an apparatus and method for selectively optimizing piezoelectric elements in an ultrasound transducer assembly for a given imaging mode. In one embodiment, a variable impedance network is interposed between an ultrasound processor and a transducer assembly and may be coupled to the transducer assembly to form either a series or a parallel connection with the transducer assembly. The network may be controlled by the processor to selectively alter the characteristics of the network. In another embodiment, the variable impedance network includes a pair of serially coupled inductors and a switch that permits one of the inductors to be controllably bypassed. In still another embodiment, the network includes a tapped inductor and a switch to permit the inductor tap to be controllably selected. In still another aspect, the inductor includes a tapped inductor having multiple taps, each tap selectable by a switch to optimize the network.

Abstract:

In an ultrasonic diagnostic imaging system, the parameters which govern the display of Doppler information are automatically optimized to make better use of the display range or area. Spectral Doppler information may be used to optimize a spectral display or a colorflow display, and colorflow Doppler information may be used to optimize a spectral display or a colorflow display. The optimization may be invoked by a manual user control which automatically optimizes one or a plurality of display parameters. Automatic optimization may be invoked only when called for by the user, or periodically after a time interval, a given number of heart cycles, or when the user has made a change to the display or imaging mode. Preferably the optimization processor runs continuously in the background so that optimized parameters are available immediately when called for. The optimization processor may utilize “hidden” Doppler data which has been acquired but is not used for display purposes.

Abstract:

A summary of a text document may be presented in the form of a list of points. A summary of text can be created by choosing words or groups of words from the original text, by modifying words in the original text, etc. Collections of the chosen words can be presented in a list form together with a mark that indicates that the text is a list of words that might not form complete sentences. Presentation of a summary in list form may lower a reader's expectation as to readability issues such as sentence flow, word flow, etc., and thus the reader may be more accepting of a machine-generated summary presented in list form than of a machine generated summary presented as sentences or paragraphs.

Abstract:

A first set of ultrasound data values is obtained that correspond to the position of a biological tissue at a first time. A second set of ultrasound data values is obtained corresponding to positions of the biological tissue at a second time. A feature pattern is located in the first set of ultrasound data values so as to provide a reference feature pattern. A search region is determined in the second set of ultrasound data values that corresponds to the located reference feature pattern in the first set of ultrasound data values. A feature pattern is located in the search region of the second set of ultrasound data values so as to provide a candidate feature pattern corresponding to the reference feature pattern. A correlation is determined between the reference feature pattern in the first set of ultrasound data values and the candidate feature pattern in the search region in the second set of ultrasound data values. A candidate feature pattern is selected in the search region in the second set of ultrasound data values based on the correlation.
